Puppies

When we are looking to place a puppy, we determine each placement based on our assessment of that specific puppy’s personality and temperament, and then we look at the role the new puppy will play in their new family, and the expectations or needs of the new family. We carefully evaluate each puppy’s temperament as the puppy grows up in order to make this determination.

We work with prospective owners to choose which puppy would work best for them from this litter, if any. It is our number one priority for the puppy to have a happy, lifetime home with equally happy owners, and find this is the best way to ensure mutual happiness.

While prospective owners may choose to limit what sex and color puppy they would prefer, we do not encourage this. Prospective owners who do so must be aware that this will limit their chances of getting of getting a puppy from a specific litter, since the puppy of that color and/or sex in the litter may not be the best match for them.

When matching puppies to their new owners, we try to be as efficient as possible in the decision making process, but we do not begin making final decisions about which homes individual puppies go to until the puppies have reached 7-9 weeks of age when overall health, temperament, structure and movement can be clearly evaluated. (Puppies do not leave for their new homes before they are 9 weeks old, with 10 weeks being the preference and normal time frame)

Please be aware that the careful and responsible breeding of puppies on a limited basis is NOT a made-to-order business in regard to sex, color, temperament or quality (show or companion).

Adults/Adolescent Dogs

We may also occasionally offer adults for sale. These dogs are usually retired show dogs or puppies that we “grew up” that didn’t end up making the cut for the show ring or breeding program, or are retired from our breeding program. All of these dogs are well socialized, house broken, and up to date on all health checks. These are not “throw away dogs”. These dogs are often the perfect match for people who don’t want to go through the “hard puppy stage”, but would love a companion that the ground work has been done on.

Our Contracts

Companion/Performance Contract (Limited Registration)

This contract guarantees the health of the dog/puppy in accordance to the guarantee that is found in the sales contract that you sign upon purchase/pick up of your new puppy. Puppies/dogs sold with this type of contract are wonderful companions and/or performance competition dogs, but are not suitable for showing in conformation, or breeding. They may however be shown in Obedience, agility, herding, tracking, rally-o, dock diving, or barn hunt etc. New owners will receive Limited AKC and ASCA Registration papers.

Companion/Performance (Limited) puppies/dogs start at $2,800.

Older puppies that are leash broken, crate trained and that have had additional socialization and training will be priced accordingly – in addition to the above.

We sell the majority of our puppies and dogs on this type of contract.

Show/Performance Potential Contract (Full Registration)

This contract guarantees the health of the dog/puppy in accordance to the guarantee that is found in the sales contract you sign upon pickup of your new puppy/dog, and that the dog is free from disqualifying faults for the AKC/ASCA Show ring and free from genetic defects affecting their suitability for breeding. Puppies/dogs sold on this contract are potentially suitable for showing and eventually breeding.

Puppies/dogs sold on this type of contract are required to finish their championships and have all breed recommended health clearances before being considered for breeding, as is outlined in the individualized sales contract you will sign upon purchase/pickup of your new puppy/dog. Since the puppies/dogs we place in show/performance/breeding homes are of the highest quality and considered an asset to our breeding program, we will usually retain ownership rights in the form of a co-ownership, and/or retain breeding rights/a limited number of stud rights on males, and usually the option to lease a bitch back for one or multiple litters. Each contract for this type of sale is customized based on the situation. Show/Performance/Breeding quality puppies/dogs will be sold ONLY to SERIOUS show/performance homes, and NOT strictly for breeding purposes. New owners will receive Full AKC and ASCA Registration papers.

Show/Performance/Breeding puppies are sold by Private Treaty agreements only.

We sell a very limited number of puppies or adults on this contract.

Holding Fee for a puppy/dog

When a reservation for a puppy or dog is placed we require a non-refundable $350 Holding Fee, which will be deducted from the purchase of the price of the puppy/dog. No puppy or dog will be held without a Holding Fee.

ALL transportation costs (including, but not limited to; crates, airline health certificates, cost of flight, etc) for puppies and dogs are the responsibility of the new owner. We do not ship puppies/dogs unaccompanied, by airline. We require the new owner to come to our house and pick up their new puppy/dog and accompany the dog back home. The buyer is also free to arrange ground transport to get their new puppy/dog. We do prefer that the new owner come to pick the puppy/dog themselves.

An incredible amount of time, care, expertise, effort and expense go into the breeding and raising of our puppies and dogs here at Blue Rock, and we appreciate not being asked to provide “discount pricing” as the request will be ignored.
